Personal Trainers
Rob Smith
Rob founded R8 Fitness in July 2013 and has been a full-time freelance Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist since 2004.
His passion for health and fitness began at a very young age which doesn’t seem to have faded with time. Now with over 30 years of learning and training, his fitness classes are second to none.
Rob’s vast experience and knowledge have led him to work with various companies and clientele including:
Jordan Fitness, International rugby players, Olympic and world-class rowers, swimmers, triathletes, plus bodybuilders and physique competitors in various categories, both male and female.
Rob also worked with Hurstpierpoint College for 7 years, running the college gym and providing strength and conditioning and match-day physio and first-aid to their rugby, athletics, hockey and netball teams. He also set up a sports injury clinic to assess and advise appropriate actions and treatments for pupils.
Rob’s passion and enthusiasm for his strength, fitness and physique have led him to compete in Indoor Rowing, Bodybuilding and Strongman in recent years. He has set 9 different World Records in Indoor Rowing (look him up on Youtube “Rob Smith rowing”) and has two trophies and top placings in the UKBFF British bodybuilding finals 2014.

I have been in the fitness scene for nearly 10 years now. After a long winded struggle with unbalanced hormones, I did a TONNE of research… read every book around women’s health – trying to navigate my fitness around my own health. I soon came to realise that a lot of people in the health and fitness world love to overcomplicate things, when really, it doesn’t have to be that way!
Life is about balance. I teach you how to master the fundamentals, how to re-align your body to help you reach your goals.
What you can expect from me:
– A ‘holistic’ but realistic approach – everything is connected
– Simple but effective programming
– A focus on strength, form and breathing to re-align the body, reducing injury risk inside and outside of the gym.
